Canada about to suspend entry of international students to Ontario

Ontario

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking action to restrict foreign students’ travel to Ontario, after a conference with provinces on April 29.

According to the Prime Minister, this restriction was proposed by Premier Ford, to halt the spread of Coronavirus. Being the only province with such a request, Trudeau has accepted to take measures to formalize it.

No announcement has been made regarding the starting date of this change or the period it will last.

Travel restrictions in Canada are currently waived for international students attending particular universities. But, they must comply with the obligatory quarantine conditions and COVID-19 tests, as do all non-essential visitors to Canada.

Although Ontario had the greatest number of new cases during April, it is predicted that by May 24, anyone above the age of 18 should be eligible to get a coronavirus vaccine, according to Ontario authorities.
