Visitor Visa Extension and Restoration
Extension:
You need to leave Canada before your status in the country expires. However, if you want to stay longer, you need to apply for the extension of your status before it expires. After you make the application, you are allowed to stay in Canada legally until a decision is made on your application.
Restoration:
If you have lost your status, for example by staying longer than you were allowed to, you could still restore your status providing that you have not been out of status for more than 90 days. The application fee for restoration is twice as high as that of extension and there is no guarantee that your request will be granted. Nevertheless, making this application could prevent many future problems.
