On 12 May, Marco Mendicino, the Minister of Immigration in Canada, announced that certain family members of those whose lives were claimed in the Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752, and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 could apply for permanent residency of Canada. This new pathway will be in effect until 11 May 2022.

This policy only applies to the applicants currently living in Canada. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is taking the required measures to pave the way for family members of the above-mentioned victims, living outside Canada, as well.

Temporary residence public policy for family members of the victims of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight 752 will also be extended. If a family member has received temporary status in Canada following the crash but did not fly to this country, they will still have the right to travel to Canada.
