As previously mentioned, open work permits do not impose any limitations on their holder, allowing the person to freely engage in their preferred occupation.  This kind of  permit is the best type of work permit,  but sadly not everyone can apply for it.  The following  could be cited as some of the examples of those who are eligible to apply for this type of work permit:

1. Recent graduates of designated post-secondary institutions
2. The spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or international student
3. International students who have become destitute
4. The Spouse and  dependent children of diplomats
5. The spouse or common-law partner of an applicant of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
