Closed Work Permit
This type of permit is also referred to as Employer-specific Work Permit and as the term suggests, the holder has to work for a specified employer, at a specific location, doing a specific job.
Before you can apply for this type of work permit, an eligible employer must obtain a document from the government of Canada, allowing him to employ a foreign national. Achieving this document, which is known as LMIA, is a lengthy and complicated process. If the LMIA is positive, you could then apply for an employer specific work permit.
Please note that in a small number of cases, there is no need for obtaining an LMIA. The individuals who could bring Canada a significant benefits or the citizens of the countries which have entered a treaty, such as NAFTA, with the government of Canada are among these cases.
