Candidates for Express Entry will have 60 days to submit their application after receiving their invitation.
As of June 29, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is reversing the COVID-19 legislation, allowing Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence within 90 days. In a press release, the immigration agency announced the adjustment.
The application time was extended by IRCC in March 2020 as part of a series of new coronavirus-related measures. It was designed to give immigration applicants additional time to prepare their paperwork. The epidemic had recently swept the globe at the time, creating service interruptions and airline cancellations.
The restoration to the 60-day period, according to IRCC, will allow the agency to handle more applications.
There will still be certain special considerations for candidates who are subject to public health limitations due to the coronavirus. On its government homepage, the IRCC provides a comprehensive list. They generally apply to persons who have not yet filed for Canadian immigration, applicants who are currently being processed, and holders of the Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR).
