Citizenship
In order to be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must:
- be a permanent resident
- have lived in Canada for at least 1,095 days (3 years) during the past 5 years
- have filed your taxes in Canada for at least 3 years during the past 5 years
- pass a citizenship test if you’re 18 to 54 years old. You’ll need to answer questions about the rights and responsibilities of Canadians and Canada’s history, geography, economy, government, laws, and symbols
- prove your language skills if you’re 18 to 54 years old. You must submit proof that you can speak and listen at CLB 4 or higher in English or French.
